The Saints came into Sunday’s game with a 7-game winning streak – while Kirk Cousins and the Washington Redskins looked to put an end to New Orleans impressive run.
It wasn’t looking good for the Saints as the Redskins at one point were up 31-16. But Drew Brees and the Saints found a way to score 18 points in the 4th quarter to tie the game at 31 a-piece. Starting with a touchdown pass to Josh Hill – which brought them within 8. Then rookie Alvin Kamara caught an 18-yard touchdown pass. As if that wasn’t enough – the rookie also scored the 2-point conversion. Kirk Cousins and the Skins couldn’t manage to stay in field goal range, which sent the game to overtime.
New Orleans defense forces a Washington punt to begin overtime – that would be the end of their day. The offense went to work, as running back Mark Ingram gained 51 yards on 2 carries to put the Saints in field goal range. Kicker Wil Lutz came on and finished the job, kicking the game-winner and extending New Orleans win-streak to 8.
The first place Saints will fly to Los Angeles to face the Rams next Sunday afternoon.
